David Byrne Releases She Explains Things To Me, 2nd Single From New Album

On June 10, David Byrne announced his new album Who Is The Sky? alongside releasing the first single, "Everybody Laughs" alongside a music video. Two days after a small teaser was shared on social media, the second single, "She Explains Things To Me", was released on July 16. This song features orchestral arrangements by Katie Kresek, and like the rest of the album, is a collaboration with Ghost Train Orchestra.

David Byrne released the following statement on social media to describe the song's background:

"Many times I have marveled how a friend (usually a female friend) seems to clock what is going on in a film between characters way before I do. Sometimes I understand poetry but sometimes I need help. Though inspired by the Solnit book Men Explain Things to Me there is a huge difference- mansplaining is usually unasked for, in this case I am the one asking."

A lyric video for the song was released on YouTube, created by Shira Inbar, a designer & animator who was involved in creating the Who Is The Sky? album artwork.
