David Byrne turns 73, Talking Heads Wiki turns 1

David Byrne was born in Scotland on May 14 1952, before his family moved to Canada then eventually the United States. He was 23 when Talking Heads started performing in 1975, and now 50 years later he's still as active as ever at the age of 73. It's always been rare for him to go long without working on a new project or appearing at an event, and 2025 is due to be yet another busy year in his career.

With a new album and tour on the horizon, David Byrne continues to juggle a range of exciting projects. His most recent performance was at a gala that took place at the Brooklyn venue Pioneer Works on May 6, in which he played "Strange Overtones" and several new songs. At the end of May, he'll be hosting the second instalment of the variety show Amazing Humans Doing Amazing Things at Manhattan's Town Hall. The previous show took place in October 2024, celebrating 5 years of Byrne's online magazine Reasons to be Cheerful with a range of comedians, music ensembles, and performance art. His unique interactive theatrical experience, Theater of the Mind, is due to run in Chicago later this year, with his musical Here Lies Love also due to return for a run in Los Angeles in early 2026.

Talking Heads Wiki was first announced to the public one year ago today, on May 14 2024. It's gradually grown since then, but has experienced some periods of inactivity that are hopefully coming to an end now. One new update for this website - we now have a Discord server!
